Reforest has started planting your trees!

We have started planting your trees!

We are really excited to be planting the first trees for the wonderful people who have used the Reforest app to start growing their own forest.

It was a beautiful winter morning in country Victoria when we arrived at the Mt Rose site to plant the first 1600 trees in the first, pilot stage of this reforestation and conservation project. 10+ different species of native tree were planted across this first 2 hectares.

It’s a small but important first step on our journey.

Reforest has matched you

For every tree that you have planted, Reforest has planted an extra one. Double the carbon emissions of your flight/fuel will be removed by these trees, turning your personal impact positive.

Explore your trees through the app

In the latest Reforest app update you can now take a virtual tour of the project site, and you will also have received a photo of your new trees in the ground as well as detail on what species of tree has been planted for you.

Asking your retailers to match you

Reforest customers have used the app to reforest flights with Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar, and fuel purchases from BP, Shell, Caltex, United, 7-Eleven and a range of other fuel companies. We have already started letting some of these companies know about Reforest and that their customers are wanting them to start matching their tree planting through the app.

As we get more people using the app we will continue approaching and asking these retailers to come on board. It will be very interesting to see which companies are willing to respond to their customers and show their commitment to reducing carbon emissions!

We will keep the Reforest community informed and look forward to sharing the news when the first retailers start offering to match your tree planting.

More updates on the way

We have received great feedback and suggestions from our community, and are getting started on a range of important updates and improvements to both the Reforest app and the broader platform which will allow organisations to come on board.

Stay tuned, and thanks for coming on the journey with us!

Which of these trees are yours?

Which of these trees are yours?

Our Mt Rose project is almost ready to plant!

Here are just a few of the seedlings we will be planting for Reforest customers. There are 16 different species in total, all of which are native to the local area and will play an important role in restoring biodiversity:

In the next version of the Reforest App you will be able to see these project updates directly within the app, and as soon as your trees are planted you will be able to see and explore your new forest.

And in recognition of World Environment Day 2020, for every tree you have planted in the Mt Rose project we will match you and plant an extra one beside it. You will also see those trees that we have planted in thanks for your action in your virtual forest in the app. Your impact is growing already!

New Features, More Impact

In future versions of the app we will also reflect the unique characteristics of each project in your virtual forest. This project may well be the only one that will have the precious Southern Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby as it’s unique icon, so don’t miss the chance to include this special project in your forest portfolio.

It will be a permanent sign that you have been Reforesting since the very beginning!

Reforest will match your trees for World Environment Day 2020

3 Southern Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies

It’s World Environment Day on Friday June 5, and the theme this year is biodiversity. There are little more than 54 of the critically threatened Southern Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies left in the wild, so preserving biodiversity does not get more real than this.

The Reforest pilot project at Mt Rose in Victoria is not only planting a variety of native trees to create new forest and sequester carbon, it is also a conservation initiative creating new, protected habitat for this unique species. The first stage of Mt Rose will be planting soon, so this is a limited chance to plant trees with such high biodiversity value as part of your personal forest.

Reforest will match you

For this first project, when you use the Reforest App to reforest your carbon footprint with trees at Mt Rose we will match every tree you plant. In the next version of our app – coming out very soon – you will see the trees you planted as well as those we planted to match you. Your impact will be double, and twice your CO2 emissions will be removed.

Why plant trees with Reforest?

By planting trees you will do more than just remove double your carbon emissions from the atmosphere; you will help preserve this precious example of Australian biodiversity.

Reforest will keep you updated about your trees over time. As they grow, we’ll send you images of the forest they are creating. And when these special wallabies start to call that forest home, we’ll let you know. We don’t want you to take our word for it, we want you to see your impact. Because it’s your impact.

And as the Reforest App continues to evolve and starts to reward you for your impact, you will be first in line as one of the founding members of our community.
